Better late than never..

Wow!  I can't believe that 6 months have flown by without me updating my blog.  Bad, Innerpeace, bad.
Anyhoo, it has been a productive couple of months.  I've added LED lights to my machines so that there is more lights!
I've also completed and started quite a few more quilts .  My total for 2015 year was 21 quilts and 28 blankets.  It was a good year.

So far in 2016, I've complete 5 quilts, am quilting 1 and have another one basted and ready to quilt.  I also have another top ready for basting and quilting.  I'm also working on 4 other tops.  My goal for this year is to make at least 20 quilts, so I can give some away fro Christmas.
Here's the pics of this years completed quilts so far:

A productive weekend

I'vee needed these blankets complete for a while but just felt the need to do it this weekend.  Thankfully, their done and will be gifted to their receipents soon.

I've considered doing a tutorial on the blankets but didn't remember to take pics, so maybe next time.

Missouri Star Quilt Company Quilts

I love the Missouri Star Quilt Company Youtube tutorials, Block magazine, and website.  I have a long list of quilts that I want to make based on their patterns.  I think I next year I will set a goal of making one quilt each month from their tutorials and magazine.

At the moment I have made their Broken Bars quilt, Jelly Roll Race, Jelly Roll Race 2, and 2 Firenze quilt tops.  I just complete my second Firenze top.  I modified their pattern as I didn't use cuddle fabrics but used 2 yards of quilting fabric.  I cut along the lenght of the fabric to get long continous strips.  I love them both but really love the red, black and gray on the most.  I think I will do another one but this time make both prints fabrics large prints.

Broken Bars quilt top

I completed the quilt top a couple of weeks ago and love the pattern! I'm not too keen on the colors anymore, so I'm giving it away.  I'm plan on making another for me just a bit larger.  This one came out at 64.5x88.5 but I expect some strinkage with the quilting.  I have enough fabric left for an extra block on each row but save it for the backing.

After a week or so, I decided to add a border.  It measures at 75x98 and I love it!

Multiple finishes

It's been a couple of productive weeks!  I finished a quilt for me in the Feed Company by Sweetwater.  I also finished another quilt that started out as the Interwoven Quilt but didn't finish as that.  I also completed a minky backed Frozen panel blanket for a friend's little girl.

I also started my next project- the broken bars quilt with 26 fat quarters.  I've completed 14/28 blocks.  I'm really happy with the quilt so far.  I may have to make another one!

The Luminscence Quilt

My bestie loves purple and when I saw this fabric I knew she would love a quilt in it.  I tried the Jelly Roll Race II quilt and she loves it.

Line dried quilt

A coworker that I'm on good terms with is retiring soon.  She's always been really nice and helpful to me since I've started here.  She has admired my quilts since I've started quilting in February.  So I made her a quilt as a retirement gift.  It's the jelly roll race quilt in the Connecting Threads Line Dried fabric.  She loved the fabric and loved the quilt!

Daysail 9 patch

Over the weekend, I finished the quilt for my youngest son.  I used 2 Daysail charm pack, 1 gray charm pack, 1 navy charm pack, and 1 navy junior jelly roll.  I didn't use the entirety of the packs in this one blanket.  I made 2 small blankets.  This one measured at 46x49.  I backed it with a yard of the blue print on cream surrounded by navy solid.  I love it but my youngest doesn't want it at the moment.  Lolol!

Cover in Love

The other day a lady at work told me about her elderly neighbor who was always cold.  That she and her husband went over to help fix the lady's AC.  Now we live in Mississippi and last week we got up in the high 90s but her neighbor was still cold.  So I found some fabric, batting, and minky to make her a quick blanket.

I loved the fabric as it is just the word "love" in red, white, and pink.  I also think its appropriate since her neighbor is having difficulties right now to remind her that there are many people who still love her.

Busy, busy bee

I've been quite but for good reason.  I've been quilting tops like a madperson.  I've gotten 7 tops ready for quilting:
1. Jelly roll race 2 quilt in Luminescence by Connecting threads
2. Jelly Roll Race quilt in Line dried by Connecting Threads
3. Jelly Roll race quilt in Feed company by Sweetwater
4. A modified Interwoven in Dottie by Moda
5. A nine patch quilt for the youngest in Daysail by Moda and some solids.
6. A Doc Mcstuffins panel
7. A ninja Turtle Panel

I've also sewn a Dr. Suess Alphabet panel with minky.  I love it and my little one can't stop touching it.

I'm excited to start the quilting.

A possible save

I've wanted, planned and cut out fabric to make one of the Moda Bake shop quilts: Interwoven by Materialgirl.  What happened next is not the fault of the pattern but definitely mine.

My cutting was all wrong and by the time the pieces were in strips, I hated the way it looked.  :-(  So I played around with it and found that adding strips made it look so much better!

I will try Interwoven again when my cutting skills are better and when I pick a fabric that goes better than the one I picked. I do love how it turned out!

Jelly Roll Race II quilt

My bestie loves purple and when I saw the luminscence fabric bt Connecting thread, I knew I had to make her a quilt with it.  I got some 2.5 inch strips and made her a jelly roll race II quilt.  She loves the top.  I just have to quilt it.  :-)

Finished!!!

I completed Nick's quilt and I love it!! 3 Moda Weeds Charm Pack, 1 red solid charm pack, 1 black solid charm pack and a junior black jelly roll.  I didn't use all of the charm packs as some prints were too floral for a boy's quilt.

I started it in March, left it along for about 3 weeks and then finished it this past week.  I love it!!!

The 9 patch quilting slog

I've finally put the 9 patch on the machine and have stiched in the ditch (mostly) along the horizontal.  I'm starting the vertical tonight.  I will not SID but will go about .25 or.5 inches away from the seams.  I'll decide before starting.

New craft love

My lovely hubby got me a sewing machine for Valentine's day and I've been bit by the quilting bug.  I've sewn together 3 quilt tops and made 2 into quilts.  I'm working on the 3rd.
