Year of Missouri Star Quilt Company Quilts

Last year I began my foray into the wonderful land of quilting. Mostly with the guidance of Missouri Star Quilt Company (MSQC) Youtube tutorials.  I also purchase tons of precuts from their website. Sufficient it to say I developed quite a stash.  Nonetheless, I made 21 quilts last year and plan to make at least 28 this year, 7 quilts a quarter.

In an effort not to have a fabric stash that rivals my yarn stash (), I devised a plan to make at least 12 quilts this year from MSQC tutorials/Block Magazine.

As of today, I'm slightly off target. I'm ok with that as my eldest kiddo was in the hospital for almost a month in March/April.  Nonetheless, I've completed 12 quilts, of which 5 quilts were from MSQC tutorials. I've completed a queen sized Firenze, Layer Cake Quilt, Around the Worls, Teacup Quilt and a Queen sized Falling Charms. I only count the quilts when they're bound.

I've started 14 more tops, which 6 of those are MSQC tutorial based quilts- Floating Squares, X's and O's, Diamond Dash, Crosswalk, Kissing Coins and the Illusion quilt.

Better late than never..

Wow!  I can't believe that 6 months have flown by without me updating my blog.  Bad, Innerpeace, bad.
Anyhoo, it has been a productive couple of months.  I've added LED lights to my machines so that there is more lights!
I've also completed and started quite a few more quilts .  My total for 2015 year was 21 quilts and 28 blankets.  It was a good year.

So far in 2016, I've complete 5 quilts, am quilting 1 and have another one basted and ready to quilt.  I also have another top ready for basting and quilting.  I'm also working on 4 other tops.  My goal for this year is to make at least 20 quilts, so I can give some away fro Christmas.
Here's the pics of this years completed quilts so far:

I'vee needed these blankets complete for a while but just felt the need to do it this weekend.  Thankfully, their done and will be gifted to their receipents soon.

I've considered doing a tutorial on the blankets but didn't remember to take pics, so maybe next time.

Missouri Star Quilt Company Quilts

I love the Missouri Star Quilt Company Youtube tutorials, Block magazine, and website.  I have a long list of quilts that I want to make based on their patterns.  I think I next year I will set a goal of making one quilt each month from their tutorials and magazine.

At the moment I have made their Broken Bars quilt, Jelly Roll Race, Jelly Roll Race 2, and 2 Firenze quilt tops.  I just complete my second Firenze top.  I modified their pattern as I didn't use cuddle fabrics but used 2 yards of quilting fabric.  I cut along the lenght of the fabric to get long continous strips.  I love them both but really love the red, black and gray on the most.  I think I will do another one but this time make both prints fabrics large prints.

Broken Bars quilt top

I completed the quilt top a couple of weeks ago and love the pattern! I'm not too keen on the colors anymore, so I'm giving it away.  I'm plan on making another for me just a bit larger.  This one came out at 64.5x88.5 but I expect some strinkage with the quilting.  I have enough fabric left for an extra block on each row but save it for the backing.

After a week or so, I decided to add a border.  It measures at 75x98 and I love it!
